Charles Elliott

Partner and Portfolio Manager

Charles has worked in stock markets for over 35 years. After graduating from Oxford University in Modern History, he joined SG Warburg & Warburg Investment Management in 1977 as a graduate trainee before moving to Rowe & Pitman in 1979 to found their Tokyo Equity Research Department. As most Japanese stocks at that time were caught up in a heady valuation bubble, his main work was to scour for (and recommend) lesser-known undervalued Emerging Growth companies. In 1985, Charles joined Goldman Sachs to start and run their Japanese Equity Research Department, with a strong continuation of this work. Key ‘multiple-bagger’ recommendations made over the period included Nintendo, Tokyo Electron, Shimano and Unicharm. In 1992 Charles moved back to Europe, remaining with Goldman Sachs, where he ran the Special Opportunities / Emerging Growth research products for 15 years, a period during which he was more specifically focused on Technology.  In February 2007, Charles left the ‘sell-side’ to set up Inflection Point Investments.
